Growing weed in a fish tank without fish

Your system will have a Hydroponic Sub-System, which is basically the tank or reservoir where cannabis plants grow with their roots in the water. In many ways, you grow your cannabis plants in aquaponics just like you would with a traditional DWC/hydro setup. The main difference is the fish produce nutrients instead of you having to add them!

The Rearing Tank / Aquarium is where the fish or other aquatic creatures live. These creatures produce waste containing nutrients that are vital for plant growth. Common fish used in aquaponics include tilapia, koi and goldfish, but there are many other hardy species that can adapt to an aquaponic environment including blue gill and catfish.

Normally in aquaponics, these extra solids are filtered out and thrown away, but worms can liquefy it while providing an extra source of nutrients that can help bridge the nutrient gap and make sure cannabis is getting everything it needs without any extra supplementation.

3 Major Obstacles to Growing Cannabis in Aquaponics

This is my version of aquaponics. I found a fish tank and remebered a YouTube video I saw with weed growing in it, Figured I’d try it out, cheap enough, no nutrients only fish and food. well here it is any ideas critisisms, anything I am open for suggestions and help. This is going on 3 days since set up. Clone is 1 week +3 days old. Light is on 18/6.

1" air stone
glass rocks $2
micro-rockwool 1.5"

When trying to grow weed in your aquatic medium, you need to have a big tank that can hold your plants. We recommend finding a tank similar to the one pictured above.

If you don’t implant a biofilter component, the ammonia emanating from fish poop will kill the latter. Conversely, the cannabis plants will not be able to use the unprocessed nutrients (i.e.,waste from fishes)and ultimately wither. So, there’s no disputing the indispensability of a biofilter component in an aquaponic environment.

Growing cannabis in the aquaponicenvironment: what you need to keep in mind

You will not come across a more sustainable farming method with regards to harvesting cannabis. The aquaponic method of growing cannabis serves as the perfect embodiment of a self-sustaining ecosystem. The fishes generate the raw material out of which the biofilter manufactures the nutrients for consumption by plants.

Bacteria convert the waste produced by fish into plant nutrients while the cannabis roots filter the water for the fish. So, when you grow weed by making the most of aquaponics, you get the best of both worlds.

You can rear different fish species in the aquarium like tilapia and carp that are capable of acclimatizing the environment. The cannabis plants growing up with their roots submerged in water comprise the hydroponic system or subsystem. The aquaponic marijuana subsystem can be likened to a conventional hydroponic grow system.
