Blunts are typically larger and last longer than a joint, but they’re made in a similar fashion. The difference is that blunts are made from a blunt or cigar wrap as opposed to rolling paper.

Keep in mind that many commercially available rolling papers — particularly those labeled as fast-burning, bleached, or flavored — contain harmful pollutants and chemicals, which could damage your lungs. Therefore, opting for rolling papers that are unbleached, unflavored, and unrefined may lessen your chances of exposure. And if you’re really worried about chemical exposure, consider using a paper-free smoking method, like a bong or pipe.

Pipes consist of a hollow bowl, a “stem,” and a mouthpiece through which you inhale. Some pipes also have a carb hole — a small hole next to the bowl that you cover and uncover with your finger while inhaling in order to clear the pipe of smoke.

While weed has plenty of benefits to offer, doctors agree any form of smoking can irritate your throat and lungs.

Quick tip: If you’re sharing a pipe with multiple people and want to minimize the spread of germs and bacteria, you can clean the mouthpiece with rubbing alcohol before each use. While this may be a tedious task, it can protect you from infectious disease.

If you’re new to the world of smoking weed, you might find yourself feeling a bit overwhelmed with options and curious about the pros and cons of each method. Here’s what you need to know.

Important: Marijuana use is illegal in some US states. Therefore, it’s important that you know the laws surrounding marijuana use for your location before trying any of the smoking methods listed below.

Growing from home allows you to control many factors, so you can expect higher quality cannabis. If you are able to grow indoors, theres an even lower chance of your cannabis plants getting fertilized, as you would have to have the males in the tent/ grow box with them! When using a Grobo, you never have to worry about male plants being too close to your females.

If the male is not removed in a timely fashion your female plants could become pollinated and start growing seeds. These seeds are part of the natural process and can be used to start a new grow. Careful, 50% of them will be males! Did you also know that cannabis seeds are a superfood? You can survive by eating just seeds!

This doesn’t mean it’s bad for your health but we advise against smoking seeds. Please remove them as you see them – you may find them crushed up in your grinder! The presence of seeds does mean that the total mass of smokable weed is compromised with decreased cannabinoid content and quite a few unwanted seeds. Think about it this way: If you purchase an ounce of cannabis and it comes filled with seeds, you are paying for the seeds which are less desirable than the cannabis flower that you were expecting.

Male Pollen Sac

The term sinsemilla is derived from the Spanish words “sin” (meaning “without”) and “semilla” (meaning “seed”) to mean as stated, without seed. This word has been associated with seedless cannabis flower since the 1970’s in North America but there is some evidence of it dating back further to countries like India! To clear up a few myths; sinsemilla is NOT a strain or genetics. It’s a female cannabis plant that has not been exposed to male plants (aka not fertilized).

Why This Matters

Then we hand grind and put into cones, which is fairly fast.

I am an Inventory Manager at a cultivation center in Nevada. By far our most time consuming process is picking stems and seeds out of batches we get for joints. It takes us about 8 hours to roll 100 joints on a good day.

Now the hard part. What makes it through we have to search through with tweezers and pick out anything that would compromise the taste or structure of the joint.

We take the bud and depending on it's size either hand break it down or roll it through a metal screen. All the large stems and seeds are easy to pick off the screen.

My question is: Is there any faster way to pick the stems and seeds out? Takes way too long for the price and manpower.
