In her early 20’s, LA confidential was a shooting star across the Sunset strip at Hollywood and Vine, when medical marijuana was first cultivating roots in downtown L.A.
When most growers hear the acronym L. A. P. D., the associated visuals come along with its own set of emotional luggage. However, in the context of the marijuana genetics world, these same simple letters stand for something slightly more breathtaking.
In the case of cannabis genetics, L. A. P. D. is shorthand for LA confidential w/ purple diesel, a mind numbing combination that inherited its namesake from both famous parents. Straight out of Hollyweed, no one mistakes this strains origin – the western edge of Amerjiuana. In her early 20’s, LA confidential was a shooting star across the Sunset strip at Hollywood and Vine, when medical marijuana was first cultivating roots in downtown L.A. As the new concept of a medical marijuana collective began to take hold, the orders went out from patients in the epicenter of this cultural revolution for more of the ironically named genetics.
The dominant gene in this oddly named paring is predominantly OG Kush, with its distinctive indica hash aroma, earthy- spice like taste, combined with a seductive and elevating high that parallels a peaceful meditative state of mind – most find this strain is just perfect for the end of a hard day.
Conversely, the P. D. – or Purple Diesel genetics offset the sometimes overly relaxing traits common with LA confidential. Purple Diesel is a wonderfully energetic high providing massive bursts of energy generally converted into great hiking sessions, surf sessions and a general appreciation for the great outdoors that we are blessed with.
When this combination of stellar genetics was first thought up, its original intent was to be able to play for both teams. Indoors or Outdoors – and be a star at either position. Should you be fortunate enough to have the land, privacy and cash to own a greenhouse, it’s not uncommon to see this strain payoff in massive dividends under those ideal conditions. Again demonstrating its flexibility L.A.P.D. has no problem demonstrating its flexibility with any number of different techniques. From hydroponics, aeroponics, too straight old-school soil, or even the new school SCROG’s, this strain produces.
The dank harvest provided by L. A. P. D.’s genetics when taken to the full expression, are outstanding when done properly. With all of the nutrient, pH, and knowledge variables one can only generalize on the yields that will be realized. However, in ballpark terms…your typical well-maintained SCROG grown plants should yield between 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 ounces of high-grade chronic per every 6 square feet. Generally speaking a well-maintained outdoor grow should yield somewhere just north of the pound per plant.
Fans of flavor will not be disappointed with the full spectrum the OG Kush family being represented in one of its more flavorful profiles. Sweet grapes, mixed with pine…Sprinkled with a dash of pepper-almost enough to make me sneeze. Whether consumed for recreational or medicinal purposes, most will appreciate the relaxing body high. Great smoke for those that suffer from abdominal pains, spasms or other chronic issues.
