Operation Mountain Sweep Blows Through Marijuana Cultivation World

“I think people need to be educated to the fact that marijuana is not a drug. Marijuana is an herb and a flower. God put it here. If He put it here and He wants it to grow, what gives the government the right to say that God is wrong?””
– Willie Nelson quote on Marijuana

As the DEA begins to wrap up “Operation Mountain Sweep” and the son blazes down on the breadbasket of our country, it’s a tossup right now which one has been more destructive to the marijuana crop of 2012, common sense or the environment?

The operation, involving agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration, Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Forest Service, National Park Service, Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service as well as local agencies, targeted growing sites on public lands in seven Western states – Arizona, California, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington.

Operation Mountain Sweep, which runs through the end of August has thus far captured and prematurely harvested over 570,000 immature marijuana plants. To hear the drug enforcement administration’s approximation … the net worth of the harvested ‘green devil’ is right around $1 billion. That is a lot of green.

As the DEA is constantly trying new ways to justify their inflated budget, there was a report out bythe AP earlier this month which showed the overall number of marijuana plants eradicated by the federal government for the entire United States, has dropped significantly in the past three years. Now in a spastic moment of clarity, the federal government is claiming that the downturn in domestic cultivation, was offset by the amount of marijuana that was captured being smuggled, either through the desert, or on the ocean.

This is a recession folks… everyone’s looking out for their job.

Meanwhile – back in the earth scorched breadbasket of Nebraska and Indiana. The local authorities are finding a slightly different crop than there used to. As most farmers tend to have hundreds if not thousands of acres of farmland. They often find small sections hijacked for the purpose of marijuana cultivation, and this year is no different. The difference is however, that with the lack of rainfall the bright green hue of a healthy marijuana plant, sticks out like a sore thumb. And that’s exactly what’s happening this year.

As some states are more active than others in pot cultivation, Indiana is not known for itsmassive marijuana production. Yet with October just a short three months away, and that being the height of the outdoor harvest for many crops, including marijuana, the state of Indiana was proud to announce that thus far for 2012, the marijuana eradication numbers were just north of 30,000 marijuana plants.

So while ‘Billy Bob’ with the Indiana state police is pleased as punch to grab some poor slobs, 20 or 30 marijuana plants, that they found hidden in some unsuspecting farmers cornfield. 15 semi-trucks loaded from front, to back … stuffed with marijuana cross, over our borders on a daily basis. Congratulations on your victory! Enjoy it while you can. The public sentiment is against marijuana prohibition… and the wasteful expenditure of our hard-earned tax dollars, so that our own personal rights can be violated. No one believes the lies about marijuana. As long as pot remains prohibited, there will be an inflated value associated with it. As long as there’s an inflated value, will see entrepreneurs from all walks of life willing to risk it all for that inflated dollar.

Christ man… we’ve had so many US presidents admit to smoking pot, it’s well beyond laughable. Yet were going to continue to jail mothers and fathers, sons and daughters over the cultivation of the plant that our own federal government has proven to be medicinal, does this make sense to anyone?
